Enter Indonesia, Galaxy Fold Without 5G

The appeal of Galaxy Fold is not only the folding screen, but it supports 5G networks. Will the technology be removed when marketed in Indonesia?

Samsung has announced that the futuristic device will be marketed in Indonesia. The pre-order process opens on the 13th of December.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Indonesia is the most populous country in the world that has not yet formalized the 5G network. The Government through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) claimed that it is still reviewing this technology, both in terms of demand-supply, business models, and frequency bands that will be used.

When asked to Samsung, the South Korean vendor gave an answer. "So buy it, and it will be discovered when you open it, if you find it 5G or not," said Elvira Jakub, Samsung Electronics Indonesia's IT & Mobile Marketing Director on the sidelines of the Galaxy Movie Studio, Jakarta, Thursday (11/28/2019).

In addition to the matter of 5G's fate on Galaxy Fold, Samsung also did not provide an estimate of the price of the competitor Huawei Mate X when it was marketed in the country. For information on the global market, Galaxy Fold is priced at Rp 28 million.

One thing is certain, Elvira said that Galaxy Fold is sold in limited in Indonesia.

Galaxy Fold was first introduced at the 2019 Galaxy Unpacked Event in February. But there are problems with a number of review units making Samsung delay the sale of competitors from Huawei Mate X.

Galaxy Fold carries 6 cameras. There are 3 cameras on the back, 2 selfie cameras when opened into tablets, and one front camera when closed in the form of a smartphone. The battery is large, 4,380 mAh.

It comes with two screens, the front when folded measuring 4.6 inches. While the inner screen when stretched measuring 7.3 inches and is called Infinity Flex.

Samsung itself powers a folding screen phone with a processor that has a fabrication of 7 nm with 12 GB of RAM. The internal memory is very roomy, which is 512 GB.
