IDC: Smartphone Shipments in the World Grow 0.8%

The IDC Survey Institute revealed that global smartphone shipments grew by 0.8 percent in Q3 2019. In total smartphones shipped in Q3 2019 reached 358.3 million cellphones. This figure is up approximately 8.1 percent from the previous quarter.

Reporting from the IDC page, Tuesday (11/11/2019) further IDC data also revealed that India became the leader of emerging markets. China's smartphones are selling well in India and contributing to smartphone shipments globally.

"Despite facing challenges in many international markets, Huawei doubled China in the third quarter," IDC Research Associate Director Melissa Chau said.

Chau also revealed that Samsung is benefiting from Huawei which is getting pressure in the global market. Sales of Samsung A series phones are increasing.

Furthermore, the top 5 vendors namely Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Xiaomi and Oppo according to IDC also accounted for more than 70 percent of smartphone shipments in the world.
